Marking of the AS Magazine Project

Hi all,

Just so you know what's happening with your mags next, here is the marking process.

All planning is final marked over the holiday. You will get a sheet detailing our comments with your final mark on. This makes it fair to all who have kept to deadlines.

The construction element will also be marked, with comments and a preliminary grade. There will be targets on the feedback to sheet, to give you the option of doing a 'final final' draft to be remarked and entered to the exam board. What was your 'final' draft will be posted as a draft. (Think that's as clear as mud!)

The evaluation will be marked along the same lines, as I won't have seen any before. I expect answers to all aspects required so that the final draft will be a matter of tweeking, not filling in great gaps.

When we get to the feedback stage (w/c 9th January 2012) all final elements must be improved and saved by the Feb half term. You must tell me which elements I'm remarking. Nothing after this date will be marked.

I hope this helps you to reach the highest grade possible. Merry Xmas, this is my gift to you!
Miss Wright AKA previously Mrs Robinson!

AS - Drafts of magazines

Hi class,
The drafts for magazine pages (Front cover, Contents & DPS) need to go on this week. Remember: drafting and posting in good time allows you to make the changes to push your level up.
Make sure you've booked in for time with SB if you need it. Don't all leave it until last minute panics set in as we won't be able to help you all at the same time!

DEADLINES - IMPORTANT

Hi all,
This is the definitive schedule. It is very important that you read this and stick to it.

W/c 14th November: lesson with SK on language and register needed in double page spreads
rest of week editing/blogging

W/c 21st November: My birthday 22nd!! Cake please. Multiple drafts of Front cover, contents and DPS going on.
Ensure you seek and act on feedback given from myself and SK and all stages.

W/c 28th November: lesson with me on how to do the evaluation (a very important stage of the marks)
rest of week drafting and blogging.

W/c 5th December: LESSON TIME HAS ENDED FOR MAGAZINES AND THE EXAM UNIT BEGINS

DEADLINE FOR ALL FINAL PAGES: 15th December
DEADLINE FOR THE EVALUATION: 20th December

All homework is blogging/working on pages/evaluation. It will take a lot of out of lesson work to get Level 3/4 so make sure you plan your time wisely and divide the jobs between the weeks.

Work hard and you will be rewarded!
Mrs R

Research and planning November

Make sure that you have responded to my comments and caught up (for those of you that are behind). You are losing marks each week that you do not do as I have suggested. This obviously will be reflected in your time management marks AND the amount of research conducted.

Photograph requirements

Hi All

Your finished magazine pages should have 4 original images photographed by you. They should cover different shot types, angles and photo-shoots.

AS production schedule for planning/research

Hi everyone,
Here is the list of things to do and the marks. Deadline TUESDAY 8th November.
You are marked on the following:

1. research into similar products: 3 front covers analysed, 3 contents page analysed (minimum)
2. research into target audience: survey, results analysed and related to your project decisions
3. organisation: into actors, locations, costumes, props etc.
4. mock ups: photo shoots, photo selection/rejection (this counts as drafting),
5. presentation of research and planning (organisation of blog)
6. time management (in lesson and home)

After Tuesday I will look at how many drafts of front covers, contents pages and double page spreads you have loaded, this shows your progression.

Make sure you do all of the above and use the list to self-assess.
0-7 marks Level 1 = poor
8-11 Level 2 = basic
12 - 15 Level 3 = proficient
16 - 20 Level 4 = excellent

Aim for the top!
Mrs R
